Arrival to Sissa

By air:
Trieste "Ronchi" airport is about 20km north-west of SISSA. From there you can take the APT coach service to Grignano - Line 51, tickets are available from the blue machine just beyond the arrivals gate (cost 12 Euros). Ask the driver to stop at the 'centro di fisica', and once you have left the coach continue walking through the tunnels to find SISSA on your left (just after ICTP). (Note that this service runs somewhat less frequently at weekends. Tickets for the return journey must be purchased in advance, either downtown from the bus station next to Trieste Centrale, or from the ICTP infopoint, at the ICTP reception.) Alternatively, take a taxi (cost is around 45 Euros with a surcharge for luggage).
The Venice Airports (Marco Polo and Treviso) are another option for coming to Trieste. From there you'll need to take the coach service (tickets available from the ATVO service desk at the airport foyer) to Venezia Mestre train station and continue on with the train to Trieste Centrale (the duration is one and a half to two hours).

By train:
The main train station is Trieste Centrale, about 5km from SISSA.
You'll need to take the 36 bus, or a taxi (cost 12 Euro) to get Sissa.
In Italy, train tickes should be purchased in advance either from an automatic vending machine or from a sales assistant. Validate your ticket with the yellow machine just before travelling.

By bus:
Take the 36 bus from Piazza Oberdan or the Trieste Central Station Square (every 10 minutes in summer time). Get off at the stop just beyond the two tunnels, then turn back towards SISSA. Tickets are available from news kiosks, and also the SISSA cafe - you can buy a single ticket, a carnet of 10 tickets or a monthly pass. Validate your ticket once on board the bus.

By car:
One option is to leave the highway from Venice following the signs towards Trieste and Sistiana. Follow the Strada Costiera, and SISSA is on the left as you reach Miramare/Grignano, just after passing through two short tunnels.

TO REACH SISSA FROM HOTELS

Hotels: RIVIERA and MIGNON (Grignano)
Just a confortable 6 minute walk. Directions to get SISSA are very easily obtained

Hotels: IMPERO, MILANO, ROMA, B&B Ghega (Trieste)
You are 50-150 meters from the BUS STOP No 36 Via Miramare-Piazza Liberta'. Identify this stop as soon you arrive in the evening. Take BUS No 36 at 8.41 am SHARP. The travel lasts 10-15 minutes. Get off at SISSA stop, that can be indicated by passangers. At the SISSA BUS stop follow the directions to SISSA (5 Minutes)

ANY OTHER HOTEL IN CENTER OF TRIESTE
Get Piazza Oberdan. Take No 36 to SISSA at 8.40 am SHARP The travel last 10-15 minutes. Get off at SISSA stop that can be indicated by passangers. At the SISSA BUS stop follow the directions to SISSA (5 Minutes)

Hotel BELVEDERE (SISTIANA)
Go to the BUS stop, direction of Trieste (100 m from the Hotel) at 8.37 am or 9.02 am . Take the bus 51. Some one MUST tell the Bus driver that it is needed a STOP in Miramare. Get off at Miramare after 8 minutes. Walk to sissa (5 minutes) following the directions you find
As soon you arrive in Trieste please buy a convenient number of BUS tickets (at any Kiosk). The bus ticket to buy is: -a normal ticket of the Trieste Traporti if your accomodation is in Trieste,
-an E4 ticket of APT if you stay in Sistiana.
