SUMMER SCHOOL NOVICOSMO 2009

Highlights in Astrophysics

20 -  30 SEPTEMBER 2009
RABAC, CROATIA

ORGANISATION

SISSA (Trieste, Italy), Department of Physics of the University of Rijeka (Rijeka, Croatia)

Scientific motivation:

The Department of Physics of the University of Rijeka, Croatia and the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) of Trieste, Italy, organize "NOVICOSMO 2009, Highlights in Astrophysics", an International Summer School with the aim to cover the major topics in modern astronomy and astrophysics.
In this period of rapid increase of knowledge of the Universe in all branches of astrophysics, this summer school wants to bring together young scholars with experts in different research fields in Astrophysics and Cosmology.
The School is intended for graduates, PhD students and young Post-Docs.

Leading scientists will deliver introductory courses that lay down the "status of the art" of different fields of Astronomy, Astrophysics and Cosmology. This will provide the current general picture and its future directions. The young participants are to gain a broad view of Astrophysics that will be an asset for their scientific growth.

The warm atmosphere of the School will foster friendships and scientific interactions among the participants, crucial for their future careers.
